Riders who were around in the heyday of 400cc supersport machines in the 1980s and 1990s will remember their high revving character, how lightweight and compact they were, and their exciting cornering performance.

In the modern era, 400cc machines remain an excellent midway point between the 250cc and 600cc classes, but many do not offer the same performance and thrill as their older counterparts. However, the arrival of the new Ninja ZX-4RR ushers in a screaming 400cc revolution with an all-new In-Line Four engine making an intoxicating wail that is music tothe ears of high-performance motorcycle fans—a clear audible signal that the Ninja ZX-4RR stands apart in the 400cc class.

For customers looking for the ideal mix of real-world road enjoyment and track riding potential, the sound and performance will entice, but the total package will convince.

EXCLUSIVE TO RR MODEL

In addition to original KRT-inspired colour and graphics with “RR” naming, the sporty Ninja ZX-4RR features a higher-grade front fork with adjustable spring preload, and a high-grade Showa BFRC lite rear shock – the same type as the Ninja ZX-10R.

FEATURES

EXHAUST PERFORMANCE & SOUND

Header pipes and collector pipe layout were inspired by the exhaust of the Ninja ZX-6R. Joint pipes link the headers, contributing to strong power output and meeting emissions and sound regulations.

HIGH-GRADE USD BPF FORKS

The Ninja ZX-4RR’s ø37 mm inverted fork uses SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) internals. Combining the concepts of Showa SFF and BPF, this advanced fork offers both racetrack performance and everyday usability. For the RR models, adjustable spring preload can be tailored to suit the rider’s preference – the first use of adjustable SFF-BP in the 400cc class.

SHOWA BFRC LITE SHOCK

The RR model offers 4 the same type of Showa BFRC lite shock used on the Ninja ZX-10R. Specifically tuned for the ZX-4R, its excellent movement at the start of the stroke ensures comfort in day-to-day riding as well as a planted feel when riding on the track, while linear damping characteristics provide a stable, solid feel and peace of mind for the rider in a wide variety of situations. It also offers adjustable compression and rebound damping, as well as adjustable spring preload so that riders can fine-tune the rear end feel.

BIG-BIKE STOPPING POWER

Dual ø290 mm semi-floating front discs (effective diameter: ø257 mm) are gripped by opposed 4-piston radial-mount monobloc calipers with differentiated diameter pistons: ø32 mm upper, ø30 mm lower. The dual front discs were chosen for the additional stopping power to match the Ninja ZX-4R’s higher operating speed range.

KQS – KAWASAKI QUICK SHIFTER

Allowing riders to take even greater advantage of the Ninja ZX-4RR’s exhilarating engine character, the quick shifter enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and quick and easy deceleration.

TRELLIS FRAME: SUPERB HANDLING CHASSIS

While the Ninja ZX-4R offers light manoeuvrability when riding in town, its highlevel supersport handling character becomes apparent when sport or track riding. Hints gleaned from World Superbike racing were used when deciding key chassis components, extra care was taken to achieve an excellent rigidity balance, and high-grade suspension and brake components contribute to the Ninja ZX-4R’s superb handling performance.
