A real enduro racer, mixing motocross power with electric start convenience. The KLX450 gets its key components from our original KX450F and adapts them for offroad racing.

The 2020 KLX450 is Kawasaki’s capable big-bore 4 stroke offroad Enduro model. The easy to handle, rider friendly, trail explorer, enduro racing KX derived motorcycle that has stump pulling low down torque. Electric start and performance components combine to deliver a fast and usable total package built for the offroad.

FEATURES

HIGH PERFORMANCE 4-STROKE ENGINE

Engine tuned for low-mid range torque and superb throttle control. The KLX450R’s powerplant was developed from our championship winning KX450F. The result is a wide spread of responsive, high traction torque and superior throttle control for low speed manoeuvring.

RESPONSIVE HANDLING

Starting with the KX450F’s lightweight aluminium frame and superb suspension package as a base, the KLX450R’s chassis is set up to offer nimble handling qualities in the rough stuff and minimise rider fatigue during long motos. The KLX450R has the lightweight and responsive handling qualities needed to enable riders to go the distance in off-road racing.

WHEELS/TYRES/BRAKES

Like the KX450F, the KLX450R features petal brake discs front and rear. In addition to helping reduce unsprung weight, the wave shapes of the petal discs help clean the brake pads for more efficient braking performance. An 18” rear wheel (KX450 F: 19”) offers a wide selection of tyres to choose from.

SUSPENSION

Low friction fork seals contribute to smooth action. The New Uni-Trak rear suspension system mounts the suspension arm below the swingarm, allowing a longer rear suspension stroke. The rear shock features dual compression adjustability, allowing high-speed and low-speed damping to be tuned separately.

EASY STARTING

An electric starter was regarded as an essential in the design brief. A lightweight, highly reliable electric start system is employed for fast, easy, trouble-free starting. A manual kick starter is retained as a backup. Having both electric and kick starter means the bike can be quickly restarted if the engine stalls or has to be stopped.

EQUIPPED

An ultra-compact and energy efficient LED tail lamp is used. The side covers share their design with the KX450F, although the holes have been eliminated to prevent the ingress of water. Engine guards protect both sides of the engine.
