Designed with mid-level to expert riders in mind, the KX450 motorcycle has always been built with one simple goal: to put riders on the top step of the podium – something that KX brand motocrossers have been extremely successful at doing for over 40 years. Completely revised in 2019 with a new engine mounted in its leanest chassis to date, the KX450 receives a number of updates in 2021 to maintain its edge in an extremely competitive class.

FEATURES

ENGINE CHANGES FOR INCREASED PERFORMANCE

A dry film lubricant coating on the piston skirt reduces friction between the piston and cylinder wall, contributing to increased performance.

HYDRAULIC CLUTCH REVISIONS

Revised construction for the hydraulic clutch includes replacing the clutch’s coil spring with coned-disc springs. The result is lighter clutch actuation when the lever has been pulled in, and a wider clutch engagement range, which facilitates control (especially when half-clutching).

RENTHAL FATBAR

A factory-style ø28.6 mm (1-1/8”) Renthal aluminium Fatbar, a popular aftermarket part, is now a standard feature. Thicker handlebar helps reduce vibration and shocks transmitted to the rider. Grip position is lower (19 mm) and closer to the rider (8 mm) – a position that makes it easier for the rider to weight the front wheel.

STRONGER BRAKES

The most advanced KX450 yet features stopping power to match its incredible acceleration capability. Up front, an oversized 270mm Braking petal disc with dual-piston caliper offers sharp response and a strong, consistent feel. In the rear, a large-diameter 250mm Braking petal disc complements the front for race-ready performance.

POWERFUL ENGINE

Delivering strong, responsive power, the engine of the KX450 motorcycle features a finger-follower valve train. Crafted with the same design used by Kawasaki factory race teams, the 449cc engine produces broad torque and strong power across the entire rev range.

ELECTRIC START

A lithium-ion battery ensures strong and reliable starting performance, eliminating the need for a backup kickstarter.
