Kawasaki New Zealand is proud to announce the new KawiGirls twilight road rides led by KawiGirls ambassador and 2019 NZ Supersport 600 National Champion Avalon Biddle.
For the upcoming Summer season, new twilight social road rides will be run in Christchurch one Wednesday evening of each month beginning 20 October. The road rides are free of charge but are limited to 30 riders on a first in first served registration basis.
The start of each ride will alternate between Kawasaki dealers with the first ride beginning at Tracktion Motorcycles in Cashel St, CBD. Christchurch dealers Tracktion Motorcycles and Norjo Motorcycles are fully supportive of the new initiative and look forward to hosting the start of each ride.
General Manager of KNZ Mike Cotter says, “Avalon is an exceptional role-model and ambassador for the sport of motorcycling. We share her vision of not only growing awareness for motorcycling but making it more accessible to new and existing riders.”
He continues,” The aim of the rides is to develop a community of like-minded ladies and encourage safe motorcycling. Avalon’s knowledge and experience is second-to-none and attendees are sure to take a lot of positives from the experience.”
The New Zealand KawiGirls initiative was started by offroad ambassador Mikayla Rowe in 2019 with the goal to create events for the enjoyment of riding rather than for competition. Mikayla is no slouch in her own right with 3 national titles to her name and found herself resenting the high-pressure competitive environment, before finding enjoyment again in riding for the social aspect.
Since its inception, the KawiGirls initiative has gone from strength-to-strength with offroad fun days consistently fully booked. Avalon will complement the existing North Island offroad events with her new South Island road rides.
“I’ve loved seeing the KawiGirls initiative evolve and am excited to be a part of it. The rides provide a safe space for females to ride together and meet new friends. Mikayla has done an outstanding job of piloting the dirt programme up North, if we can do a similar job down here there will be some great times ahead!” Avalon says.
“With KawiGirls road rides based around Christchurch and KawiGirls offroad rides based in the Waikato, our long-term plan is to hold both types of events in both islands.” states Mike.
Each ride will be a 1 and ½ to 2-hour scenic round trip with halfway stop for refreshments, snacks, and socialising. Spot prizes will also be on offer from the hosting dealer.
