The Bridgestone Kawasaki Race Team is proud to announce the signing of Micah McGoldrick in MX1 for the 2021/2022 motocross season. Micah will contest the 2022 NZ Motocross Championship aboard a 2022 KX450.
Shane Verhoeven, team Owner/Manager says, “Micah is a natural fit for our team. We look forward to working together this upcoming season” and expressed a heartfelt thanks to Ethan Martens, the team’s MX1 rider from last season who sustained career ending injuries at Woodville GP in early 2021.
When asked what Micah’s expectations are for the season he says, “Top 6 and improve race by race. Leave every race day safe and stronger.” The 25-year-old from originally from Rangiora states he’s looking forward to racing competitively again and getting to know the team.
Micah started riding at 6 years of age and achieved his best result in 2015 finishing the NZMX season a credible 3rd in MX2. With the arrival of the 2022 KX450 he will be busy getting acclimatised to the practice bike in the lead-up to the season saying he’s excited for it’s “smooth engine power, mid-corner handling and footpeg adjustment”.
Micah will join esteemed MX2 rider Josiah Natzke who begins his 3rd year with the team after achieving impressive results over the past 2 seasons, narrowly missing out on the 2020 MX2 championship and taking honours in SX4.
The team is excited to continue its relationship with title partner Bridgestone. Shane claims, “Josiah and Micah absolutely rate the Bridgestone X10, X20 and X30 tyre options and we expect to see a few hole shots this season”.
The teams first official appearance for the upcoming season will be at Taupo’s Labour Weekend event followed by SX4 in Taupo on November 20 and the inaugural Shaw’s Skyline MX the next weekend on 27 November.
